Time for more of my DIY office makeover!
I’m all about doing things myself and saving $$$$. I normally start with some ‘online inspiration.’ Yup, you guessed it, “Pinterest!” Although, I have found over the years that if someone likes what you have made and they ask where you got the idea from, if you say “Pinterest” than they disregard most everything that you just did. It seems like they think that you reached into your computer and grabbed whatever is shown on Pinterest and ‘viola’ there it is! Nope!! So far from the real, time consuming truth! Have you ever seen a “nailed it” blog of Pinterest attempts?!!!
So…. I have learned to answer the ever frequent question “where did you get that idea from” with “on the web.” Somehow people give you more credit when the word “Pinterest is not involved! 🙂 There’s my free advice for the day (especially for all of you Bride’s out there).
Okay, so this is a continuation of the last blog that I did on the DIY office makeover. This is what the wall now looks like with the decal on it.
Here are some progression photos, taken with my cell phone…
“BEFORE & DURING”
“BEFORE”
PRIMING … PRIMING… & MORE PRIMING
I went to Lowe’s and picked up a couple of paint swatches and hung them on my wall for 2 weeks until I decided which color I wanted. Then I ended up having them mix a little more green into the blue toned one I liked the most. You can really tell which photos here are from my cell phone! Lol!
Transformation time!
We painted the chairs and the wood on the table white and painted all of the filing cabinets white. That helped a LOT! I bought 2 long skinny black plastic frames and spray painted them gold and then used a vintage rust spray paint and speckled the gold frames with that. Saved at least $15 a frame by doing that. I also had enough leftover spray paint to cover a bunch of other smaller frames that I had from before. Those were added to my shelves.
Cheap plastic black frame $5 at AC MOORE – Expensive looking gold flecked frame
Forgot to put gloves on until I was almost done… my whole hand was gold! Couldn’t seem to get it off my fingernails!
Finished Office….
Only thing that needs to be done is to have my husband change out the electric sockets to white instead of cream. Oh well.. there’s always something!
My desk is still wood but I didn’t feel like buying a new desk when this one fits my needs and I can’t paint it because it’s not real wood. My office chair is still red and now re-decorated by my son with magic marker… so that is my next project… recovering a chair!
My little mischievous Mr who needed to crash my photoshoot!
Love this photo of my sister and brother in law. Caption reads ” He risks his life for people he doesn’t know, imagine what he’d do for me.” Nice to look up while editing and see the photo of Joseph & I during our stay in Egypt for the Blocker/Victor Wedding.
I’ve worn in my desk pretty hard. Guess that’s what happens when you don’t use a mouse pad!
So there you have it folks! If you like it, please comment below. If you don’t like it… sorry… it’s already done. 🙂
